Gautam Buddha Nagar: In a shocking case of alleged medical negligence, a half-metre-long piece of cloth was found inside a woman's stomach around one and a half years after she underwent a cesarean section at a private hospital in Greater Noida in 2023.

The cesarean section was performed at Bakson Hospital, and soon after being discharged, the woman started experiencing severe stomach pain. Instead of returning to the same hospital, her husband took her to Kailash Hospital, where doctors advised her to undergo another surgery.

While performing the surgery, doctors at Kailash Hospital discovered a large piece of cloth inside her stomach and promptly removed it. They informed the family that any further delay could have been fatal.

A committee has been constituted to probe the matter, and action will be taken based on the report.

The incident took place after the woman was admitted to Bakson Hospital on November 14, 2023, for delivery. Her husband said doctors first suggested a normal delivery, but later decided to perform a cesarean surgery. After the operation, she returned home but continued to suffer from severe stomach pain, allegedly due to the stitches.

Despite several visits to doctors and regular medication, her pain did not go away, and doctors were unable to detect the problem. Recently, the family took her to Kailash Hospital, where doctors advised another surgery. During this procedure, they found a large piece of cloth that had been recovered from inside her body.

Speaking to NDTV, her husband said, "Doctors at Kailash Hospital said that my wife could have died had the piece of clothing stayed inside her stomach any longer. I urge authorities to initiate strict action against the doctors at Bakson Hospital.

Chief Medical Officer of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Narendra Kumar, said, "I have received a complaint from him. He said a piece of clothing was found inside his wife's stomach. A committee will probe the incident and submit a report. If any lapses have been found, a case will be registered against the negligent."
