CM K Chandrasekhar Rao Lays Foundation Stone for three hospitals, 6000 beds to be added

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has laid the foundation stone for three Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (TIMS) Hospitals in LB Nagar, Erragadda and Alwal and said that newly built medical hospitals will now get additional 6,000 beds.  

A cost of Rs 2,679 crore has been allotted by the state government to construct these hospitals.

KCR told TOI at the Alwal event, "Hospitals will not only strengthen the overall medical system but also make healthcare more accessible to the poor in Telangana. Medical services will now be available in every corner of Hyderabad."

Medical services in Hyderabad have been improving each day and now the city has nearly 15 government medical colleges.

Hyderabad has been able to attract investments worth Rs 2,30 lakh crore to the healthcare sector over the past seven years, KCR stated.

"We are the vaccine capital of the world with 33% of the world's vaccine manufacturing happening at Genome valley. We will be setting up a Pharma city including a Pharma University in 14,000 acres of land. The state will also be setting up 33 medical colleges and nursing colleges one in each district in the public sector. The government will take steps to provide education and medical services to the poor everywhere. If we are able to do all this, we will be able to move forward beyond the bigger states," he added.

After the speech of KCR, Health Minister T Harish Rao described the moment as a historic event by saying that the government has recognised the medical requirements of people in the state for the first time since independence and also said that the Gandhi Hospital is 200 years old while Osmania General Hospital is 100 years old. Except for the MNJ cancer hospital, no new hospitals were established.
