CM Stalin Inaugurates Rs 197.81 crore Govt Super-speciality Hospital in Vellore

Vellore: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated the Pentland Government Multi-Speciality Hospital in Vellore on Wednesday. Built at a cost of Rs 197.81 crore, the facility is set to boost healthcare services in the region.  

The new 560-bed facility--ground plus 7 floors--on the premises of the Government Pentland Hospital has specialities including gynaecology and obstetrics, pediatric surgery and neonatal care and the chief minister had laid the foundation stone for the new facility on August 22, 2023. 

According to the PTI report, also, Stalin inaugurated through video conferencing additional buildings for 7 primary health centres and new buildings for 2 health sub-centres constructed at a cost of Rs 7 crore.

Leader of Opposition, AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami slammed Stalin and alleged that posts of doctors and medical personnnel have not been filled. "Is it a multi specialty hospital or a multi specialty publicity building? He had asked in a statement issued on the eve of the inauguration.

When the chief minister arrived here as part of his 2-day official visit to Vellore and Tiruapattur districts, he was accorded a warm welcome by ministers, elected represetatives and the people. The CM arrived at Katpadi here from Chennai by train, and people lined up on both sides of the road till the venue of the event (the Government Pentland Hospital) to greet him, reports PTI.

Also, Stalin received petitions from the public and gave an order of appointment as a hostel warden to a daily wage earner battling poverty. He gave away housing pattas to 12 beneficiaries, marking distribution to as many as 21,776 beneficiaries.

Ministers, including Duraimurugan (Water Resources), Ma Subramanian (Health) and top officials took part.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that a state-of-the-art 750-bed multispecialty paediatric hospital will be built at a cost of Rs 487.66 crore at the King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research campus in Guindy, said the Tamil Nadu Health Minister, Ma Subramanian.
