Complete construction of Ara Govt medical college hospital by Aug 15 next year: CM Nitish Kumar

Patna: In a significant development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed authorities to ensure the completion of the Government Medical College and Hospital in Ara by August 15, 2025. 

According to a UNI report, the CM, while inspecting and laying foundation stones as well as inaugurating various developmental projects in Ara, asked the authorities to continuously monitor the construction of the Government Medical College Hospital so that it will completed within the stipulated period.  

He said after completion, the hospital will provide better medical facilities to the local people.

Nitish laid the foundation stones for various projects worth Rs 41.63 crore and inaugurated the projects related to health, education, police and other infrastructure completed at an expenditure of Rs 62.66 crore, news agency UNI reported.

During inspection, Health Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh apprised the Chief Minister about the progress of various projects through the master plan.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in a significant move towards improving the healthcare facilities in Bihar, the Union Health Ministry approved the construction of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bihar. This approval is followed by the Bihar government's proposal three years back to establish the second AIIMS in the state.  

The state government has officially transferred 150.13 acres of land to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW) for the construction of AIIMS at Ekmi Shobhan Bypass in Darbhanga district. This decision marks a crucial step towards addressing the healthcare needs of the region and providing high-quality medical services to its people. Additional chief secretary of Bihar Prataya Amrit said, “The remaining 37.31 acres for the project will be transferred next week”.
