Itanagar: Controversy erupted over the delegation of government doctors at Ramakrishna Mission Hospital (RKMH) after hospital authorities alleged that the doctors left their duties after being deputed at the hospital.

Known for its commendable service towards the state's patients, the hospital faced backlash after it denied the fact that doctors were transferred to RKMH many times but failed to acknowledge the matter and the government in this regard.

Due to a shortage of gynecologists and dermatologists, two doctors were transferred here and are currently working at the hospital. The matter became a controversial issue after RKMH authorities claimed that government doctors who came on deputation to serve in the hospital earlier were released from the hospital due to the requirement for more doctors in government hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government has transferred doctors at RKMH whenever it was required but the authorities have denied rumours that government doctors were being transferred to the RKMH, saying that the doctors leave the hospital after being hired by other government hospitals, reports The Arunachal Times.

RKMH assistant secretary Sanket Maharaj said, "The RKMH authorities requested the government for a dermatologist and a gynaecologist due to its increasing demand in the city, and accordingly, the government has delivered it."

It was revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding was not signed between the RKMH and the state government to transfer government doctors to the RKMH explaining further about the matter, a senior health authority from the TRIHMS said, "Government doctors are not liable to render duty in a non-governmental hospital, and there are huge differences in medical expenses in RKMH and Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS)."

Moreover, issues of the salary of the doctors have been also raised by the official, he said that it is the responsibility of the government to pay the salary of the government doctor who was transferred to the RKMH. Thus, it indicates that monetary disputes could be one of the reasons the doctors leave their duties at the hospital.
