The victim, a resident of Chandigarh Colony, Moga, suffered a severe ear injury on July 24 after two snatchers allegedly pulled off her gold earring. The incident left her with a torn ear and serious trauma, following which she was rushed to the emergency ward of the Civil Hospital.

According to the family, they expected immediate medical attention from qualified doctors and nursing staff due to the seriousness of her injury. However, they alleged that a Class IV employee, who was not trained to perform medical procedures, was allowed to stitch the wound in the absence of a senior doctor.
"We brought her to a government facility trusting that she would receive expert care, especially after suffering such a traumatic assault. Seeing uncredentialed support staff holding surgical needles while doctors stood by or remained absent is appalling," said the son-in-law of the victim and a resident of Chandigarh Colony, Moga, who is the complainant in the case, reports the Tribune.
The family further alleged that the stitches were not done properly, and when they returned to the hospital two days later for a follow-up examination, doctors informed them that the wound required restitching.
The relatives alleged that the incident caused additional pain and distress to the elderly woman and raised concerns over possible complications, including delayed healing and infection. They have demanded a detailed inquiry and strict action against those found responsible.
Speaking to the Tribune, Dr Gurwinder Singh, Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Moga, said he would investigate the matter and fix responsibility for the alleged negligence once a formal complaint is received from the victim's family.
