Shimla: Allegations of medical negligence have surfaced at the Regional Hospital in Una after a 33-year-old woman and her unborn child died during childbirth on Friday morning. The incident triggered tension at the hospital, with the family demanding the immediate arrest of the doctor concerned.

The family also questioned the hospital administration’s handling of previous alleged medical negligence cases and expressed concern over whether the inquiry would ensure accountability.
As tensions mounted at the hospital, Una Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) and other officials reached the spot to assess the situation.
Speaking to TOI, the chief medical officer (CMO) said the patient suddenly fell ill around 8.30 am on Friday and subsequently died. He said the postmortem report had been prepared and sent to senior officials, while a college-level inquiry had been ordered to examine all aspects of the case.
The CMO further stated that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
The family is seeking a transparent probe into the incident, while the findings of the inquiry are awaited. The allegation of medical negligence remains to be established through the investigation.
