Puducherry: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) has recently released a statement warning the public not to fall into the trap of any individuals and organizations demanding money for employment in the institute after a recent incident of cheating was reported in the media.

As per a media report in the Times of India, the statement was released after a section of media and social media recently reported that a person or a group of persons had cheated potential job seekers of several lakh of rupees and issued them fake appointment orders for some posts in the institute, said the Jipmer director Rakesh Aggarwal.

The director said, "The institute hereby clarifies that Jipmer or its employees are not even distantly related to the incident. Such acts, if any, to dupe gullible people in the name of providing employment at Jipmer are likely to have been done by unscrupulous external elements."

The institute conducts all recruitments in a completely transparent way and as per the government rules. the Director added, "Every notice for recruitment is widely published in prominent newspapers as well as on the institute's website www.jipmeredu.in with all relevant details. Further, for regular group B and C posts, selection is done through written examinations. For group A posts, selection is done through written examinations and/or interview. No middleman or agency is involved at any stage of recruitment. Thus, the question of any person or agency influencing the process does not arise."

Further, the institute also urged the people to report such fake incidents involving people or agencies demanding money for employment in the institute to legal officials so that action could be taken beforehand, reports the TOI. The director said, "The institute further advises the public that anyone approaching such unscrupulous elements for help or paying money for getting a job will do at his/her own risk and the institute will in no manner be responsible."
