Jaipur: A nursing officer at JK Lon Hospital in Jaipur has been removed from duty and asked to report to SMS Medical College after a female contractual ward helper accused him of molestation.

According to the woman, the accused stopped her as she was coming out of the washroom, grabbed her hand, and forced her onto a bench. She reportedly managed to push him away and escape.

After receiving the complaint, hospital authorities formed a committee to investigate the incident and asked it to submit a report within three days. Further action will be taken based on the findings.

The incident took place when the woman was on night duty. At around 2 am, the woman came out after using the washroom inside the ward. She alleged that the nursing staff was standing outside, caught her hand, made her sit on a nearby bench and held her shoulders. She then pushed him away and managed to escape.

She alleged that after she freed herself, the nursing staff member told her that if she wanted money, he would give it to her, and even if she did not come on duty, he would mark her attendance.

After this, she left the spot and informed senior staff about the incident. She also submitted a written complaint to the SMS hospital police station as well as to the hospital administration.

The matter triggered outrage after the contractual employees protested in the hospital, demanding strict action and threatening to stop work if the accused continued to be employed at the hospital.

Speaking to TOI, JK Lon Hospital superintendent RN Sehra said, "The ward helper has made serious allegations, and we have removed the nursing officer from our hospital; he has been directed to report to SMS Medical College. Police are investigating the case, while we have formed a committee to probe the matter and submit a report within three days."
