The accused reportedly attempted to flee after the incident, but was nabbed by a mob, who severely beat him before handing him over to the police.

According to the police, the man reportedly entered the hospital posing as a patient and opened fire at point-blank range inside the ward.

According to the PTI report, the motive behind the murder has not yet been ascertained, police said. Superintendent of Police Akash Patel said the deceased woman has been identified as Laxmina Devi (55), a resident of Bhabua district of Bihar.
