New block to come up in Ernakulam Medical College at cost of Rs 100 crores

Kochi: Health Minister Veena George has announced that a new block will be soon set up at the Ernakulam Medical College hospital premises. The project will cost Rs 100 crore to establish the new building. 

She also said that lab equipments will also be provided within two years in all panchayats and steps are being taken for the necessary action.

The announcements were made public when Minister George was giving a speech at one of the inaugurations of healthcare facilities in the district.

Furthermore, she said that good and friendly behavior at the hospital could help patients suffering from mental or financial difficulties and that providing better healthcare facilities to them should be every hospital's goal.

While speaking about the new block, she also told TNIE, "Public health is very important. We are attempting to equip government hospitals by offering comfort and better treatment. Through the Aardram project, the basic infrastructure in healthcare facilities has improved."

Finally, Minister George has released the official logo of Ernakulam Medical College. In a competition held between the students and the public, the design of the logo was created and later was selected as the official logo for the college.

In addition, the minister virtually inaugurated the health and wellness sub-centers at Monipally, Chowara, Thottumugham, Chelamattam, Manjapetti, and Malayattoor.

Government Medical College Ernakulam, (GMCE), Ernakulam is one of the premier medical institutions in the Kerala state. The college was governed by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education established by the Government of Kerala. Later on December 17, 2013, the Government has taken over the institution and now it is governed and managed by the Government of Kerala. The admissions and functioning of the college is according to the rules and regulations formulated by the Government of Kerala. Now the institution is glistening with outstanding records in both academic and extracurricular fields backed by excellent faculty and full-fledged facilities.
