Mumbai: The citizens of Ambernath now won't have to travel far to get treatment as the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) gave its permission to establish a government medical college by approving a proposal to change the land reservation. The decision came forward in a meeting held by MMRDA.
MMRDA approved the proposal at its 152nd meeting. The proposal for a government medical college in Ambernath was raised by local MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde and MLA Dr. Balaji Kinikar, both of whom are doctors. The state's joint director of medical education wanted 11 hectares of land on survey numbers 102, 103, 104, 106, and 166 in Ambernath after medical education minister Amit Deshmukh approved the college last year.
