Hyderabad: Health Minister C Damodar Raja Narasimha and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Friday laid the foundation stone for a new girls' hostel at Osmania Medical College. This initiative is designed to improve facilities for female students at the college, marking a significant step toward better accommodation and support for the increasing number of women attending the prestigious institution.

The project, with an estimated cost of ₹121 crore, is aimed at significantly enhancing the infrastructure and facilities at Osmania Medical College. This substantial investment underscores a strong commitment to modernizing and expanding the infrastructure at one of India’s oldest and most esteemed medical institutions. The new girls' hostel, a key component of this initiative, is expected to be completed within the next few months and will be instrumental in addressing the current accommodation challenges faced by students.

In his speech at the event, Mr Raja Narasimha emphasized the need for government hospitals to meet or exceed the standards set by private institutions.
