Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services personnel had rescued four labourers stuck beneath the collapsed portico of a private hospital in Bengaluru, whereas one labourer had died, unfortunately. There was no movement of patients or people at the time of the incident on Saint Martha's Hospital premises. The hospital authorities promised to provide free treatment to the injured labourers. The fire department stated that the building was constructed poorly which could be the reason of the incident. The fire department released a crane and two earthmovers along with two rescue teams upon receiving calls from the site. It took nearly three hours to get the workers out of the debris.

The rescue team headed by Hemanth Kumar K, District Fire Officer (South), handled the mission successfully. A case was registered against the individuals responsible for the incident including engineers, contractors etc., under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of IPC.
