Pune Physiotherapist caught red-handed for taking Rs 60000 bribe to issue disability certificate
Pune: In a shocking incident, a 43-year-old physiotherapist at the state-run Sassoon General Hospital, Pune has been arrested for allegedly taking a bribe to issue a disability certificate.
The doctor was nabbed by the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) after he demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 from a government employee to issue a disability certificate.
The complainant had applied to the hospital for a disability certificate. When the concerned physiotherapist demanded Rs 60,000 to issue it, the complainant approached the Anti-Corruptions Bureau, a police statement said.

The accused has been identified as a physiotherapist at the Department of Orthopaedics of Sassoon General Hospital.
The incident took place on Monday when the accused doctor tried to extort money from the complainant citing the reason that the money will have to be given to the seniors at the hospital for the issuance of the certificate, reports The Indian Express.
Following this, the ACB laid a trap and sent the government employee to the accused. While the accused was accepting the bribe, the team caught him red-handed. Based on substantial evidence, the accused was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
An FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been lodged against the accused at Bund Garden police station.
The case is being investigated by Police Inspector Praneta Sangolkar and her team under the guidance of Pune ACB SP Amol Tambe and Addl SP Suraj Gurav.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that following a viral video on social media, where a Ballia district hospital worker was seen allegedly taking a bribe from a patient on the pretext of an eye operation, the Health Department officials had ordered a probe into the matter. In the video, which surfaced on social media, a hospital worker can be seen carrying two Rs 500 currency notes.
