Soon, AIIMS Madurai to get temporary Rural Health Centre
Madurai: According to the Executive Director for Madurai AIIMS Dr. M Hanumantha Rao, a temporary Rural Health Centre would be set up at the Government Hospital for Thoracic Medicine (GHTM) in Thoppur within six months. The Rural Health center would serve as an outpatient clinic for academic purposes of the AIIMS Madurai.
It has been planned that the Rural Health Centre will be in the Emergency Care and Recovery Centre (ECRC) building on the Thoppur GH premises.
In the absence of own campus of AIIMS Madurai at present, the officials were operating for a temporary campus to fulfill the adequate requirements of the institution.

A temporary project cell office for AIIMS will be set up after an initial proposal to convert the palliative care center at Thoppur General Hospital to the office drew criticism from several quarters, leading to the decision to establish the project cell office at the ECRC building.
Government Rajaji Hospital and GHTM Dean Dr. A Rathinavel told TNIE, "The ECRC block is being temporarily given to the AIIMS team so they can soon renovate it to suit the requirements of the project cell office. Paperwork for all this has already begun."

Through an official notice, it has been stated that AIIMS Madurai will start taking interviews for the posts of eight faculty members online and will commence from Monday to Thursday.
"An associate professor and an assistant professor each for Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, and Community Medicine will be recruited on a contract basis, and will have to start work at Ramanathapuram next month," Rao said.
In yet another development, an official notice dated February 19 invited applications for four posts at the project cell office.
