Agra: In a shocking incident, a 38-year-old patient was shot dead at point-blank range inside a private hospital in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, raising serious concerns about safety in healthcare facilities.
According to the news reports, the incident took place around 10 pm on Monday when two armed men reportedly barged into the hospital ward and opened fire in front of other patients and attendants. The assailants immediately fled the scene, leaving panic and chaos behind.

Police said the incident appears to be linked to a personal dispute. The victim had been in a relationship with a woman from Mathura for the past five years and was planning to marry her. However, her family reportedly opposed the relationship and arranged her marriage elsewhere last month.
Despite this, the victim continued attempting to contact the girl. He even went to meet her family last month, where he was severely beaten up and warned with dire consequences if he kept pursuing the matter, reports PTI.
Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said the victim’s actions were seen by the woman’s family as an attempt to disrupt the arranged marriage alliance, which led to further hostility. Following the earlier confrontation, Mathura police had taken legal action against the victim and placed him in judicial custody for 14 days.
Although the planned marriage was later cancelled, the woman eventually married someone else. Her family reportedly held the victim responsible for the earlier disruption and continued to issue threats against him even after the matter appeared to have settled.
Authorities have arrested the woman’s father, a police constable, while the main accused, including her cousin, a PAC jawan, and another associate, remain absconding. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend them.
A case has been registered under BNS Section 103 (murder), the officer added.
