45-year-old paediatrician shot dead inside Bijnor Hospital

Unidentified Assailant Shoots Bihar's Rural Doctor
Bijnor: In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old paediatrician was shot dead inside a private hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district, by an unidentified assailant on Thursday evening, police said.
The accused fled the scene on a motorcycle after the incident, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Prakash Kumar said.
According to news reports, the incident took place late Thursday evening when the accused entered the clinic, shot the doctor in the chest and then fled.
According to the ASP, the doctor, the operator of Shivalaya Health Care on Dhampur Road in Nagina, was shot dead, news agency PTI reported.

The deceased, a son of Ghaziabad resident Brahmapal, was a paediatrician. He had been running the Shivalaya Health Care Centre on Dhampur Road in Nagina for four years, and he lived on the first floor. At 7 p.m. on Thursday, the doctor was in his cabin when a young man arrived on a motorcycle. He entered his cabin directly and shot him in the chest, reports Dainik Bhaskar.
He was taken to the community health centre, where doctors declared him brought dead, the officer said.
Kumar said efforts are on to trace the accused, and the body has been sent for post-mortem, police said.
Police are investigating the case and trying to identify the accused with the help of CCTV cameras installed nearby. The doctor's body has been sent for a postmortem.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the safety of healthcare professionals in Punjab is in jeopardy after gunshots were fired outside the residence of a doctor in Mota Singh Nagar, Jalandhar, on Saturday evening, marking the second such incident on consecutive nights. The incident occurred at around 9:45 pm, when a man allegedly arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at the house of the owner of Vardaan Hospital.
