Vadodara: A dedicated pain clinic has been launched at the state-run Sir Sayajirao General (SSG) Hospital in Vadodara to provide specialised care for patients suffering from acute and chronic pain, focusing on minimally invasive procedures and non-surgical treatment options.

According to the news reports, the clinic was inaugurated on Friday to mark World Anaesthesia Day. The facility aims to offer personalised treatment to patients experiencing pain that affects their daily activities.

The clinic will cater to a wide range of conditions, including back and neck pain, sciatica, slipped disc, neuropathic pain, arthritis, shoulder and knee pain, trigeminal neuralgia and persistent pain following surgery.

Treatment will be tailored to each patient's condition and medical requirements. Available options will include nerve blocks, facet joint injections, targeted injections and image-guided interventional pain management procedures.

These techniques are intended to provide targeted pain relief, improve mobility, and help patients resume their routine activities with greater comfort and independence.

The facility has been established by the hospital’s department of anaesthesiology with the support of dean Dr Dhariti Parmar and under the guidance of medical superintendent Dr Ranjan Aiyer. Dr Kavita Lalchandani, Dr Neha Shah and Dr Akanksha Bansal played key roles in setting up the clinic, TOI reported.

The initiative aims to expand the role of anaesthesiology beyond the operating theatre by addressing pain that interferes with patients’ daily activities, sleep, mobility and independence.

Guided by the motto “pain relief without surgery,” the clinic will focus on providing appropriate non-surgical interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
