Warangal: Outpatient (OP) services at the upcoming Warangal Super Speciality Hospital are scheduled to begin on October 20, coinciding with Dasara, while the full facility is expected to be inaugurated by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy after December 15, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said.

During the initial phase, essential outpatient services will be launched, with two floors of the 24-storey hospital prepared for use. The move follows directions from the Chief Minister to start services by Dasara and shift the relevant departments from the state-run MGM Hospital in Warangal, where the functioning of some departments has reportedly affected patient care.

The hospital is expected to cater to around 3,000 outpatients daily during the initial phase. This number could rise to 5,000 after the formal inauguration, when the full range of medical services and facilities is expected to become operational.

The new facility is expected to provide advanced treatment to people across north Telangana, including residents of border areas and neighbouring parts of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. It is also intended to reduce the need for patients to travel to Hyderabad for specialised healthcare.

The announcement followed an inspection by state ministers, elected representatives and senior district officials.

During the inspection, the ministers enquired about the current status of construction, the progress of various hospital blocks, infrastructure facilities, electricity and water supply, and other related aspects. They examined the ongoing works in detail and reviewed the quality of the work completed so far. They instructed the officials concerned to ensure that the remaining works were completed in a planned and coordinated manner, TNIE reported.

The minister directed officials overseeing construction to speed up the remaining work and ensure that each floor was ready for use in a planned manner. The collectors of Warangal and Hanumakonda were also asked to monitor the progress daily and ensure that the available space was organised to meet patients’ needs.

While outpatient services are expected to begin this month, the hospital’s full-scale launch will depend on the completion of the remaining work and installation of the required medical facilities and equipment.
