Alert: MCI warns against Fake letter circulating in the name of Board of Governors

Taking cognizance of the same issue which is crucially misguiding the medical students, the apex medical council has issued an official notice alerting all the students, and authorities to be aware of the spoofed letters, circulars and notices in the name of MCI Board of Governors forwarded by some touts. The fake notice perpetuates that based on the Supreme Court order, MCI has permitted Indian Medical Students studying abroad to take transfer/migration to the other universities/academies/institutions and still become eligible to write the screening test conducted

The fake letter looks like an RTI response given by the MCI BOG to one Manoj Tripathi, a resident of Trilok Puri Delhi 

The alert was announced in a recently issued notification wherein the MCI authorities clearly stated that it has come to the notice of the Board of Governors in Supersession of the Medical Council of India that a fake letter shown below is circulating in social media. It is brought to the attention of all concerned that there is no such letter issued by BoG, MCI.

Apparently, the recent forged circular that was circulated via unknown persons was so carefully drafted that it nearly seemed genuine enough to rely on.

The fake notice issued in the name of MCI BoG read the following:

Information sought under the Right to Information Act, 2005.
Sir,

This is in reference to your RTI application dated 23rd of June 2020 made u/s 6(3) of the RTI Act, 2005,
with respect to the information sought at point no. 1, The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India vide its order/verdict dated 30.01.2018 has quashed clause 4(3) of the

Screening Test Regulations, 2002 of the Medical Council of India (MCI) thereby providing relaxation to the Indian Medical Students studying abroad to take transfer/migration to the other universities/academies/institutions and still become eligible to write the screening test conducted.

Hence after the aforesaid Hon'ble Supreme Court's verdict of 30.01.2018, migration of students from the medical universities/academies/institutions to another located in the same country or distinct Is permissible.

With respect to information sought at point no 2, conferring of Section 13(4A) Medical Council Act. Necessarily, for examining the validity of the medical qualification granted by a medical institution in any country outside: it is fundamental that the program of undergraduate Medical Course (Equivalent MBBS) of the universities/academies/institutions are analogous. If the program/Course/duration of the Undergraduate Medical Course (Equivalent MBBS) varies, on the case of migration, the candidate will not be able to sit for the Screening Test as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (as amended) and the Screening Test Regulations, Act 2002.

Hence migration from universities/academies/institutions with 6 years course/duration program to 5 years course/duration program is Not Permissible.

Bashing the notice, the MCI has alerted the concerned students and authorities to rely upon genuine letters, circulars, and notices available on the MCI website only.

Accordingly, the said bogus notice has been forwarded to the RTI cell of MCI for further investigation.
