She directed the hospital to ensure the availability of a full stock of medicines at all times. She further stated that any shortage in medicines should be overcome by ordering from the store immediately.

Further, the doctors and other staff members of the hospital have been asked to give all their priority to patients who come as emergency cases. She told doctors to provide good services to people who visit the government health institutions, as per a media report in the Indian Express.

Observing that patients should not be made to buy medicines from private shops, the civil surgeon directed the doctors to prescribe only generic and other medicines available in the hospital pharmacy.

More than a week back, Civil Surgeon Adarshpal Kaur had conducted a similar surprise inspection at the government hospitals in Dera Bassi and Dhakoli to review the health facilities and arrangements available there. She had checked the availability of essential medicines, heating, lighting and other necessities. Kaur had directed the officials to provide services smoothly and had also interacted with the patients.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that in a bid to provide health services to its employees, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) had been signed between the Punjabi University and 15 other prestigious Hospitals, Labs, and Radiology Centres of Patiala. The working or retired employees and their family members will get healthcare services at the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates.
