COVID 19 Impact: NBE postpones DNB Final Exam June 2020

New Delhi: Keeping in view the ongoing coronavirus epidemic and the subsequent lockdown, the National Board of Examination (NBE) has postponed conduct of DNB Final Examination - June 2020.

The DNB Final Examinations (Theory & Practical) are held biannually every year in June and December. The next session of theory examination was scheduled to be held in June 2020. Candidates desirous of appearing in DNB Final Exam June 2020 are requested to view the below-mentioned details of the notice issued by the NBE informing about this effect.

In view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and DNB Final Practical Examinations of Dec 2019 session being scheduled, it has been decided to defer the conduct of forthcoming DNB Final Theory examination to August/September 2020.

The revised schedule for conduct of DNB Final Theory Examination - June 2020 shall be published on NBE website www.natboard.edu.in in due course.

The NBE had earlier extended the cutoff date for Thesis Submission for DNB candidates. As per NBE norms, writing a thesis is essential for all DNB candidates towards partial fulfilment of eligibility for the award of DNB degree.

NBE has been receiving queries from DNB candidates & NBE accredited hospitals regarding extension of the cutoff date for Thesis submission which is 30th June 2020 for candidates who are scheduled to appear in the December 2020 Final Theory Examination. Hence, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic the cutoff date for Thesis submission for candidates who are scheduled to appear in the December 2020 Final Theory Examination. has been extended till 30Th September 2020.

The Government of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on All India Basis and utilizing existing healthcare infrastructure for capacity building.

NBE at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in approved specialities leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for postgraduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions.
