NBE notifies on Self-appraisal for Trainee Registration in 2023 Admission Session, details
New Delhi- Recently, a notice has been issued by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi providing information about the self-appraisal for registration with NBEMS as trainees for the 2023 admission session.
The aim behind introducing a self-appraisal is to provide NBEMS courses to the candidates who are seeking registration with NBEMS as NBEMS Trainees.
This self-appraisal will help in determining the eligibility of the candidates for registration with NBEMS as trainees after joining the allotted NBEMS-recognised institutions through centralised merit-based counselling. It will be available for those candidates who have successfully joined the NBEMS course after the 2023 admission session.
As per the official notice, “The eligibility of candidates for said NBEMS programme is determined on the basis of prescribed criteria in the information bulletin for respective entrance examinations. On successfully meeting the criteria and submitting the self-appraisal with prescribed documents to NBEMS through the training institutions, candidates get registered with NBEMS as trainees. A letter to this effect in the form of a “Letter of Provisional Registration” shall be available for download on a real-time basis on successful completion of self-appraisal by the trainee & respective training institution”.
The details of the timeline for opening the registration window for candidates of DNB Broad Specialty courses and DRNB Superspeciality courses of the 2023 admission session are given below:
Process | Timelines of online window |
Submission of self-appraisal forms by candidates to their training institutions | 17th January 2024 to 15th February 2024 (till 11:55 PM) |
Verification of the self-appraisal forms & documents of the candidates by NBEMS Accredited institutes | 17th January 2024 to 29th February 2024 |
Further, the NBE notice has also explicitly stated that any extension of the online window will not be acceptable. Also, if candidates fail to complete their self-appraisal during the given time will not be registered as NBEMS trainees.
NBE also directed candidates to thoroughly review the information bulletin for respective entrance examinations qualified for admission to the course before they proceed with the self-appraisal. Along with this, candidates will also have to go through the detailed guidelines available on the online portal for Joining and Registration (OPJR) before proceeding for self-appraisal in OPJR. It is strongly advised by the NBE that the candidate should carefully read the declaration to which they will be agreeing after completing the Self-appraisal Proforma.
The candidate will be solely responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of all the information provided in the self-appraisal form and documents submitted. If any discrepancy or misrepresentation is found in all the information given in the form, the candidate will be terminated by NBEMS without any prior notice or opportunity and the course will also be cancelled.
Meanwhile, it will be the responsibility of the particular institutes to verify the self-appraisal form submitted by the candidate before approval. If the particular training institute approves/forwards any incorrect or fabricated record/information/document for seeking registration of the candidate as a trainee, it will be liable for appropriate action as per the terms and conditions of the recognition agreement.
According to the notice, “The registration so granted on submission of the self-appraisal form and its subsequent verification by the training institution shall be purely provisional and has been granted only for the specific purpose of undertaking the DNB/DrNB course. The provisional registration shall be subject to verification of the information and documents furnished by the trainee at OPJR and mere grant of this registration will not create any rights/equity in favour of the trainee, whatsoever, to undertake the DNB course or appear in DNB/DrNB Final Examination or award of DNB/DrNB degree”.
Lastly, the official notice of NBE has also urged the candidates to contact NBEMS or write to NBEMS at its communication web portal provided in the notice for any further queries.
