Surgeon Rear Admiral Jandhyala Sridhar assumes charge as Command Medical Officer, Eastern Naval Command
Surgeon Rear Admiral Jandhyala Sridhar is a senior officer of the Indian Navy Medical Service and a distinguished Dermatologist.
Sridhar is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune. He completed his MBBS in 1993, MD in Dermatology in 2002, and DNB in Dermatology in 2003, and is a recognized Professor of Dermatology and PG Examiner for Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS) and NBEMS (National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences).
After being commissioned in July 1993 as an Intern Medical Officer at INHS Sanjivani, he has served as General Duty Medical Officer at Indian Naval Hospital Ship (INHS) Sanjivani and INHS Kalyani. He also served as Principal Medical Officer onboard Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Vijaya from 1995 to 1998.
After completing his Advanced Course in Dermatology at AFMC and Command Phase at INHS Asvini, he served as Graded Specialist (Dermatology) at INHS Asvini, INHS Kalyani and INHS Sanjivani, followed by Classified Specialist (Dermatology) at INHS Sanjivani from 2007 to 2013 and Senior Advisor (Dermatology) at INHS Sanjivani and INHS Asvini from 2013 to 2021.
Sridhar has been serving as Commanding Officer of INHS Kalyani since October 2021. He is a recipient of the DG Coast Guard Commendation in 1997, FOCINC (ENC) Commendation in 2007, and CNS Commendation in 2012.
His extensive experience would help him take charge of the new post, considering that he has held key appointments, including Commanding Officer, INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam, during COVID-19; Director and Dean, Institute of Naval Medicine, INHS Asvini, Mumbai; and Senior Advisor at INHS Asvini and INHS Sanjivani. Before his current appointment, he served as Consultant Dermatologist at Command Hospital (Eastern Command), Kolkata.
