Ghaziabad: FIR against 2 doctors among 4 after baby born with abnormalities

Ghaziabad: A case was registered against four people, including two doctors, following allegations that a prenatal scan report indicated that the unborn baby was normal, while the baby was later born with serious abnormalities at a private hospital in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad. 

According to the complaint, the woman underwent a prenatal scan at a diagnostic centre in Delhi on July 11, 2025, when she was around five months pregnant. The family alleged that the report did not reflect the abnormal condition of the foetus and instead recorded the pregnancy as normal.

According to reports, the case was registered at Vijay Nagar police station following the court's directions. The complaint was filed by the child’s father, who alleged that his wife had been undergoing regular check-ups during her pregnancy at a private hospital in Pratap Vihar.

The complaint further alleged that the family was repeatedly assured that the baby’s condition was normal, following which they continued with the pregnancy care. 

The woman delivered the baby at the same private hospital in November 2025. The family alleged that doctors subsequently found that the child’s legs and part of the spine were affected and that fluid had accumulated in the baby’s head.

The father later showed the child’s medical reports to doctors at two government hospitals in Delhi. He subsequently approached the police with his allegations, but claimed that no action was taken initially.

According to a report by Jagran, it is alleged that during the examination of his pregnant wife, the doctors did not prepare the ultrasound report with correct facts and allegedly took money from him while assuring him that the condition of the child was normal.

The matter was then taken to court, following which an FIR was registered against four individuals, including the doctor overseeing the woman’s treatment.

The case concerns allegations that the prenatal scan findings were not accurately reported and that the family was kept under the impression that the pregnancy was progressing normally. The allegations have not yet been established. 

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the prenatal scan, the treatment provided during the pregnancy and the child's medical condition after birth. The medical records and other evidence will form part of the investigation.
