Jaipur: Tensions have escalated at the super speciality wing of SMS Medical College as contract pharmacists have issued a seven-day ultimatum to the administration, demanding immediate reinstatement and a formal investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment and termination processes.

The pharmacists have accused authorities of unfair dismissals, lack of transparency, favouritism, and possible financial misconduct, warning of intensified protests if their demands are not addressed within the given timeframe.

The protesting pharmacists claimed that the hiring and removal procedures were carried out without following due norms. They alleged that while some candidates were appointed through questionable means, others were removed arbitrarily without valid justification, raising concerns over procedural lapses and administrative accountability.

Among their key demands, the pharmacists have called for reinstating those who were removed and conducting a thorough probe into the entire recruitment exercise to identify any wrongdoing. They stressed that such alleged malpractices not only affected employment opportunities but also undermined ethical standards within the institution.

The Times of India reports that experts believe that if the issue remains unresolved, it could potentially disrupt hospital functioning and impact patient care services.

With the deadline now in place, focus remains on the administration’s response, as the pharmacists have indicated that they may escalate their agitation if corrective action is not taken within the stipulated period.
