Fire Erupts at Erythro Pharma Facility in Sangareddy, Probe Launched
New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at Erythro Pharma Limited in the Gaddapotharam Industrial Area of Sangareddy district following a suspected reactor blast, triggering panic in the industrial zone, with employees managing to escape safely and no casualties reported so far even as firefighting operations continued and the extent of damage remained unclear.
The incident occurred when the blaze erupted at the pharmaceutical unit and quickly spread across the premises. Thick smoke engulfed the area, prompting workers to evacuate immediately after the suspected explosion.
Initial reports suggest that the fire may have been caused either by a reactor blast or a technical issue such as a short circuit or spark during solvent handling, though the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed.
Multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot, and firefighting operations were launched to control the flames, which spread rapidly within the facility. Fire engines from nearby locations and support from adjacent industrial units were also deployed to assist in dousing the fire.
Officials confirmed that there were no immediate reports of injuries or fatalities as employees managed to evacuate in time. However, the incident created panic in the surrounding industrial area and raised concerns over safety preparedness.
Preliminary inputs indicated that the lack of immediate firefighting arrangements at the unit may have contributed to the rapid escalation of the fire, necessitating assistance from nearby facilities.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and assess the extent of damage, with safety officials inspecting the site and a case being registered, according to a recent media report in Telangana Today.
