Ahmedabad: A pharmaceutical company in Gujarat has reportedly been targeted in a major cyberattack, with hackers demanding a ransom of Rs 30 crore to restore access to compromised data.

As per police sources, the attackers allegedly gained access to the company’s computer systems and obtained sensitive information, including data stored in its medicine-related module. The incident reportedly disrupted access to important company information, prompting the firm to approach the police.

The attackers are suspected of being based in China, although their identities and the origin of the attack have not been independently established.

Police sources also indicated that the company may have transferred the ransom through a cryptocurrency wallet. However, the alleged payment has not been officially confirmed.

An application was reportedly submitted at a police station in western Ahmedabad following the incident. The Gujarat State Cyber Crime Cell and cyber experts are believed to be examining the case to determine the extent of the breach and trace the money involved.

Investigators are also reportedly working to track the cryptocurrency transaction and explore measures to block or recover the funds.

Authorities have not disclosed the name of the pharmaceutical company or provided further details about the extent of the data breach. The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations concerning the ransom payment and the attackers’ identity have yet to be independently verified, reports Ahmedabad Mirror.
