The seized injections were allegedly illegally stocked for sale and intended for misuse in cattle. Oxytocin is often unlawfully administered to dairy animals to artificially induce milk let-down and increase milk production. Officials warned that such unauthorized use can have adverse effects on animal health and poses serious risks.

The joint enforcement action was carried out by A. Srilatha, Drugs Inspector, Adilabad, along with Sri K. Nagaraju of the II Town Police Station, Adilabad, and their respective staff. Authorities stated that further investigation will be undertaken, and action will be initiated against all offenders involved as per the provisions of law.

The Drugs Control Administration emphasized that the abuse of oxytocin in livestock, particularly its illegal administration to artificially enhance milk production in dairy animals, constitutes a punishable offence. Unauthorized stocking and sale of Oxytocin injections attracts stringent penalties under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, including imprisonment of up to five years.

The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, reiterated its commitment to curb illegal activities related to medicines and protect both public and animal health. The department also appealed to the public to report any complaints related to illegal drug activities or suspected manufacturing of medicines, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial or industrial areas.
