Hyderabad: Expressing concerns over the future of the Hyderabad Pharma City, Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) Working President and former Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) has written a letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The letter asked the Minister to provide clarity on the status of the Hyderabad Pharma City project.

Hyderabad Pharma City is a project designed by the previous BRS-led government to form Telangana as a global leader in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors.

KTR raised concerns about the Congress-led government's decision to potentially scrap the Pharma City project, which he said could have significant repercussions for investors and the people of Telangana who stood to benefit from the opportunities it would generate.
"We cannot afford to lose the opportunity to make Telangana a global hub for life sciences. Any indecision or abrupt policy shifts will only harm the state's progress and reputation," KTR warned.
As per UNI report, he highlighted that under the leadership of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), the government initiated the development of the world’s largest integrated pharma cluster.
KTR pointed out that Telangana accounts for 40 percent of India’s pharmaceutical production and houses over 1,000 life sciences companies, with the combined ecosystem valued at USD 80 billion. He also noted that Hyderabad hosts the highest number of US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA)-approved pharmaceutical units globally.
The Pharma City project, with an estimated investment potential of USD 9.7 billion, was a central part of the strategy to further develop this sector and create over 5 lakh direct jobs.
