RML hospital warns doctors against unauthorized entry of pharma, diagnostic representatives

New Delhi: Raising the issue of the increasing presence of unauthorized persons roaming around in hospital premises as agents of diagnostic services and pharmaceutical companies, Dr. Manoj Kumar Jha, Additional Medical Superintendent of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, has directed the Head of Departments to instruct all resident doctors, technical staff, nurses, and faculties to refrain from interacting with these unauthorized agents in the wards, OPD, or emergency block and warned that any unauthorized canvassing would result in disciplinary action.

"It has been brought to the notice of competent authority that many unauthorized persons roam around the Hospital premise as agents of Diagnostic services and Pharmaceutical companies. This leads to an adverse Public Image of the Hospital. The hospital has well equipped lab services and diagnostic services," a recent order on July 5 stated.

Reminding the concerned that the hospital is well-equipped with lab services and diagnostic services, the office order added, "The Head of Departments is directed to instruct all resident doctors, technical staff, nurses, and faculties not to entertain such persons in the ward, OPD, or emergency block. They should be directed to utilize the lab and diagnostic services of this hospital, which maintains a high standard."

The order additionally warned that hospital employees would face disciplinary action if they were found to be in the company of any unauthorized agents.

"Any incidence of unauthorized agent canvassing within the hospital premise and with Hospital staff would be viewed seriously and appropriate action would be taken against the concerned employees." the office order noted.
