Vigilance Nabs Drugs Inspector Taking Rs 40,000 Bribe for Pharmacy Licence
Patna: The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) on Wednesday arrested a Drugs Inspector posted at Sadar Hospital, Arwal, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 in exchange for issuing a medicine shop licence.
The inspector, identified as Shailendra Narayan, was caught red-handed by the vigilance team while receiving the bribe. The action followed a complaint by Jitendra Kumar, a resident of Prasadi English, who had applied on July 18 to open a wholesale medical store under the name Muskan Medical Agency. During the licensing process, the Drugs Inspector allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 to clear the application.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance Department conducted a preliminary investigation, which confirmed the bribery demand. A special team was constituted, and on Wednesday, as soon as the complainant handed over Rs 40,000 to the inspector, the vigilance officials moved in and arrested him on the spot.
