GITAM Introduces AI, Machine Learning in Pharmacy Curriculum to Boost Future-Ready Pharma Skills

New Delhi: GITAM Deemed to be University is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into its pharmacy curriculum in an effort to align pharmaceutical education with rapidly evolving healthcare technologies and industry requirements.

The initiative aims to equip pharmacy students with advanced technological skills relevant to modern drug discovery, precision medicine, clinical research, healthcare analytics and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

According to a recent media report in The Hindu, the university plans to redesign its pharmacy programmes to include AI-driven tools and data-based approaches that are increasingly being adopted across the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors.

The institution stated that the updated curriculum will focus on practical exposure to computational methods, predictive analytics and digital technologies used in pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare systems.

The report further noted that the integration of AI and ML is intended to strengthen interdisciplinary learning by combining pharmaceutical sciences with emerging technologies, helping students adapt to changing industry demands.

GITAM also plans to work closely with technology experts, academic researchers and industry professionals to create specialised training modules and research-oriented learning opportunities for students pursuing pharmacy education, reports The Hindu.

The university believes that integrating AI and machine learning into pharmacy education will improve employability prospects and prepare students for future opportunities in digital healthcare, drug development and pharmaceutical innovation.

The institution added that the move is aimed at developing a future-ready workforce capable of contributing to advancements in healthcare technologies and modern pharmaceutical research.
