Telangana Pharmacist Results on Hold Pending HC Verdict, 732 Posts in Limbo

Telengana: The Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board on Wednesday announced that the results for pharmacist posts will be declared only after the final ruling of the Telangana High Court, citing concerns over potential cancellation if released earlier.
According to the recent Deccan Chronicle report, the Board stated that the delay is due to an ongoing case before the High Court and warned that publishing the results before the final verdict could create legal issues and may even nullify the entire recruitment process.
The Board also noted that a notification for 732 Pharmacist (Grade-II) vacancies was issued on September 24, 2024, attracting a total of 27,101 applications. The selection criteria comprise 100 marks, with 80 marks allocated to a computer-based examination and 20 marks assigned for experience in contract or outsourced roles.
The recruitment process faced legal challenges after a writ petition alleged that certain candidates employed on a contract or outsourcing basis were also registered as pharmacists in private medical stores while working in government institutions. The petition argued that awarding weightage to such candidates would be unjust and contrary to the provisions of the Pharmacy Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
The Deccan Chronicle reports that the High Court, while hearing the matter, issued interim directions stating that the recruitment process would remain subject to its final judgment.
Following legal consultation, the government decided to wait for the court’s final decision, as the matter is still under judicial consideration.
