Gujarat State Pharmacy Council Issues Admission Advisory, Asks Students to Verify PCI Approval
New Delhi: The Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) has released an advisory for students and parents planning to seek admission to diploma and degree pharmacy programmes, urging them to ensure compliance with the prescribed eligibility and approval requirements before enrolling.
According to a recent media report by The Times of India, candidates seeking admission to pharmacy courses must have completed Class XII (Science) from a government-recognised board with Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The Council has further clarified that students who have passed their qualifying examination from unrecognised boards will not be eligible for registration as pharmacists, even if they successfully complete a pharmacy programme.
As the admission season gains momentum following the announcement of Class XII examination results, prospective students have been advised to verify whether their chosen institution has been approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). Admission to a pharmacy college without PCI approval may have serious academic and professional implications, including ineligibility for pharmacist registration.
TOI reported that the official list of PCI-approved pharmacy colleges is available on the Pharmacy Council of India's website at www.pci.nic.in.
