New Delhi :  Distinguished Indian orthopedic surgeon Prof (Dr) Raju Vaishya has been honoured with 'Pride of Asia - Health Excellence Award' for his outstanding contribution to the healthcare sector.

Her Royal Excellency of Thailand Dr Mom Luang Rajadarasri Jayankura bestowed the honour on Dr Vaishya at a glittering ceremony organised by Global Achievers Alliance recently in Bangkok.

Dignitaries from Thailand and India graced the occasion where Her Royal Excellency Jayankura was chief guest and Lok Sabha MP Dr Udit Raj was the guest of honour, a statement said here on Monday.
An elated Dr Vaishya, who is senior orthopedic and joint replacement surgeon at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, said, "I am happy that Pride of Asia International Award has been conferred on me.

I hope that it will be an inspiration to others too. It is a matter of great honour and pride for me. I dedicate this award to all my teachers who shaped me, my students who inspired me and also to all my patients who put their trust in me.''

The famed surgeon, who is the President of Arthritis Care Foundation and Indian Cartilage Society, has also made a record by publishing 58 research papers in 2015 alone.
