Andhra Pradesh: In a tragic incident, a government doctor attached to Guntur Government General Hospital allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Krishna river on Sunday. The deceased doctor has been identified as the assistant professor in GGH Guntur. 

The doctor allegedly went near the barrage and after waiting for a few moments suddenly jumped into the river. The preliminary reports state that the doctor took the step after having a dispute with his wife.

According to recent media reports, the doctor came near Prakasam barrage and after staying there for a while, he suddenly jumped into the river while leaving his belongings in the pavement.  The incident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Sunday. Some of the locals identified to doctor jumping to the river and immediately informed the police. Hans India reports that Vijayawada one town CI Venkateshwarlu who was present there took efforts to help the doctor with the rope but in vain. As the tides were too high, he could not be saved. He left his id card, phone, and the bike on the pavement before jumping into the river. 
The sub-inspector Srinivas Rao told ANI that "before jumping he left his ID card and phone on the barrage road. A passerby who saw him jumping off informed the police. One town policeman had immediately rushed to the spot."
The police, NDRF, and SDRF teams have already started search operations to find the missing person. The family members of the doctor were also informed about the tragic incident. The investigation is still going on and the reason that led him to take such a drastic step is yet unknown. The Hans India reports that the doctor had a dispute with his wife before he went to the barrage and decided to end his life. 

 The 40-year-old doctor was survived by his wife and two children and he was a resident of Kothapet, Guntur.
