DCI recognises 2 Govt Dental Colleges in Assam, 100 BDS seats added

Guwahati: In a major boost to dental education in Assam, the Dental Council of India (DCI) has accorded due recognition to two more dental colleges in Assam.

The state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently declared about the development on X, formerly Twitter.

The Dental Council of India recognised the government dental college, Dibrugarh and the government dental college, Silchar under the Shrimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati in Assam. There are 50 seats for bachelors of dental surgery in each dental college.

"Happy to inform that the Dental Council of India has accorded due recognition to two more dental colleges in Assam. With three functional dental colleges and another one in the pipeline, Assam is on its way to become a hub of medical education in the country." Sarma posted on X.

According to notifications issued by the dental education department of the Health Ministry, 50 BDS seats each in both dental colleges have been recognised.
