Patna: In the ongoing investigation into the alleged rape and death of a medical student from Jehanabad district, the CBI team is re-examining evidence at the girls' hostel in Patna, where she was found unconscious and questioning everyone in detail.

On Sunday morning, an 18-person CBI team arrived at the student's home in Jehanabad. Officials questioned her parents, neighbours, and several villagers for nearly five hours. The interrogation focused on specific questions, including the girl's late-night call to her father on December 26, 2025, and her sudden return home the next day.

According to a TOI media report, the agency's action followed a detailed search operation on Saturday at the girls' hostel in Patna, where the student was staying while preparing for NEET. The team searched the area for approximately three and a half hours. Forensic samples were collected from books, notebooks, clothing, corners, doors, windows, and the floor of the victim's room.

However, her father described the interaction as constructive. He said, “Around 18 CBI officers arrived. They questioned my wife and me. The atmosphere during the interrogation was very positive, which gives us hope that we will now get justice”. “We are fighting for the truth and are continuously demanding the arrest and strict punishment of those involved in this incident”, he further added.

The investigation team also inspected various parts of the house and examined the documents and belongings provided by the family. Officials assured the family that the investigation would be conducted impartially and based on the complete truth.

Investigators examined every page of her books and notebooks to determine if they contained any signs of coercion, threats, relationships, or her mental state. Forensic analysis will examine handwriting, marks, and possible hidden notes. Information from the student's diary was cross-verified with records collected by the previous SIT.

After completing the hostel inspection, the CBI team visited private hospitals to review medical records, the Leave Against Medical Advice (LAMA) report and statements of attending doctors.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the CBI registered an FIR and took over the investigation into the suspicious death of the NEET aspirant from Jehanabad. The case has been classified as a special case under number 7S/26, transferring the investigation entirely from the Bihar Police to the central agency.
