17 AIIMS faculty members promoted to Professsor grade

New Delhi: In a significant move, Seventeen faculty members at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi have been promoted to the rank of professor under the Assessment Promotion Scheme (APS). This promotion will be effective from July 1, 2024.

An official memorandum issued by AIIMS authorities on March 6, 2025 stated that, on the recommendations of the Standing Selection Committee Meetings held from 4th November 2024 to 18th December 2024 in 5 different Phases. With the approval of the Competent Authority, 17 Additional Professors (01.07.2024 Batch) are promoted to the grade of Professors in their respective discipline/department in the Pay Matrix Level-14-A- Rs.168900-220400/- plus other usual allowances from their due date i.e. with effect from 1st July, 2024 under Assessment Promotion Scheme.

The faculty members promoted include- Dr Karan Madan and Dr Vijay Hadda from Pulmonary Medicine Department, Dr Sarita Mohapatra and Dr Aashish Choudhary from Microbiology Department, Dr Vidushi Kulshrestha from Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department, Dr Surabhi Gupta from Reproductive Biology Department, Dr Noopur Gupta from Ophthalmology Department, Dr Vishesh Jain from Paediatric Surgery Department, Dr Shashwat Mishra from Neuro-Surgery Department, Dr Ajay Gojia from Medical Oncology Department, Dr Prasun Chatterjee and Dr Avinash Chakrawarty from Geriatric Medicine Department, Dr Aditi Sinha, Dr Neerja Gupta, and Dr Jeeva Shankar from paediatrics Department, and Dr Tony George Jack from Anatomy Department.

Dr Prasun has expressed his elation over the promotion and stated, “With the blessings of the Almighty, Grandparents, the unwavering support of my parents, family and the heartfelt wishes of friends and colleagues, I am honoured to announce my promotion to Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. This achievement is not only a personal milestone but a reflection of the collective aspiration of the Whole family and my small village.”

The new promotion will be crucial in solving the workforce crunch with more vacancy for fresh recruitments. Last year, Medical Dialogues reported that a total of 425 faculty positions remain vacant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, with 810 faculty members currently recruited out of 1,235 sanctioned posts.
