Delhi Ophthalmologist Dr Rahil Chaudhary enters Guinness Book of World Records

Delhi: Achieving a new milestone, Ophthalmologist Dr Rahil Chaudhary has set a Guinness World Record titled 250 Contoura Vision Laser eye surgery patients in one day.

Dr.Rahil Chaudhary is the first eye doctor in the world to perform 100 LASIK procedures in a day. He is also the first eye doctor in the world to visit the ICL Manufacturing Plant in Switzerland and be a part of the global phakic IOL research team.

Currently he is working as Managing Director (M.D) Ophthalmologist at Eye7 Eye Hospitals. His areas of interest are Cataract and Refractive surgery.

He is the pioneer of Contoura Vision laser specs removal surgery in India. He is a Guinness World Record Holder and 4 times Indian Record Holders. He set records by performing the maximum Contoura Lasik Surgeries, maximum ICL Specs Removal Procedures, and highest number of AI Laser Cataract Surgeries done in India. He was also the fastest to Perform Laser Eye Surgery (1 min 21 sec) in India. 

As per a recent media report, on December 25, 2022, the record was successfully finished at Eye7 Eye Hospitals in Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi. The organisers executed the event flawlessly and with exquisite organisation. Additionally, the participants' amazing enthusiasm elevated the event to a new level. At the location of the record attempt was Mr. Rishi Nath, one of the adjudicators from the Guinness World Records, London. After finishing the record, he declared it complete and gave Dr. Rahil Chaudhary the certificate of recognition.

Elated at his new achievement, Dr. Rahil Chaudhary told Free Press Journal, " It has been an overwhelming experience for me. Even though it is not the first time I am attempting something like this, making it to the Guinness Book of World Records is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I want to thank my family and the entire team at Eye7 Eye Hospitals, without whom attaining such an incredible feat would have been impossible for me."

Dr.Rahil Chaudhary did his schooling at the prestigious Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram and went on to do his MBBS graduation from Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun and internship from Dr.Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, PGIMER, New Delhi. He further went on to complete his post-graduation in Ophthalmology from Swami Vivekananda Subharti Medical College, Meerut.

He has been honoured with the prestigious “International Hero in Ophthalmology” award by the All India Ophthalmic Society for the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. He has also been honoured with the “Pride of Indian Ophthalmology” award at the All India Ophthalmic Conference 2020. He has been awarded the “Best Surgical Technique” and “John Henahan” prizes at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in Paris and Lisbon. 

He was the first to use mobile applications for toric marking in cataract surgeries in India and has been featured for the same in various international publications. He has also been awarded the “Practice Management Award” at ECSRS, Denmark. All these remarkable achievement of the doctor is going to be a inspiration for all the young medical professionals all over the country.
