Dr Arun Gupta re-appointed as President of Delhi Medical Council

New Delhi: The newly constituted Delhi Medical Council (DMC) will be headed by Dr Arun Gupta, who has been re-elected as the president of the Council for another term of five years on Thursday.

"Arun Gupta was re-elected as the president of the Delhi Medical Council for another term of five years," the DMC said in a statement.

Dr Arun Gupta is considered to be very close to Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain. Dr Arun Gupta did his post-graduation in pediatrics from SS MEDICAL College, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. He has been practicing Pediatrics for the last 30 years.

Dr Arun Gupta has also been the President of Delhi Medical Council for the last 5 years, during his tenure DMC has been fully digitalized and all processes have been made online.

Speaking on the re-election, Dr Gupta said, "The entire country is very crucial juncture today with the role of the medical fraternity much more significant than ever. We will ensure that in this fight again the covid pandemic and in days to come, the rights of the doctors are protected and upheld, while also endeavoring that the entire fraternity works together for the good health of the patients and the country."

Meanwhile, Dr Naresh Chawla has been elected as the new Vice- President of the Council. He is a medico-social activist.

The Delhi Medical Council (DMC) is a quasi-judicial body with the registration of more than 72,000 allopathic doctors. It is also responsible for settling medico-legal cases against doctors. DMC is also responsible for settling medicolegal cases against doctors.
