With COVID-19 tally crossing 10K, Delhi Government Hospitals to add on to reserve bed-strength
New Delhi: 9 of the Delhi Government hospitals are going to increase their bed-strength to battle to rising number of COVID-19 cases in the capital. This came after Delhi on Wednesday reported 10,665 fresh Covid cases, a rise of 94.58 per cent from the day before. This is the highest single-day rise after May 12 when the tally was 13,287. Also eight Covid deaths have been reported in last 24 hrs, which is highest since June 26 when nine deaths were reported. The new cases and fatalities have pushed the tally to 14,74,366 and the toll to 25,121.
Meanwhile, the Delhi government on Wednesday directed its nine hospitals to increase the beds reserved for Covid patients amid an alarming spike in Covid cases in the national capital. In a circular issued by the Delhi Health Department, nine Delhi-government run hospitals have been asked to increase the number of Covid beds to 4,350 from the existing 3,316 in view of the surge in cases. The Indira Gandhi Hospital has 1,181 beds reserved presently for Covid patients, which has been directed to further escalate to 1,500 beds.
