Gujarat: Orthopaedic Surgeon booked, detained over rape allegations by psychiatric patient

Gujrat: Based on the complaint filed by a female journalist, an Orthopaedic surgeon associated with the Gujarat Hospital in Vastral has been arrested on the charges of rape.
According to a recent media report, a journalist filed the case against the accused doctor alleging that she was misled by the doctor and was taken to a hotel instead of a psychiatrist like he had promised to take her to for treatment. After which she was allegedly raped by the accused doctor.
In her FIR, the woman stated that about 27 days ago she visited the doctor at Gujarat Hospital Vastral due to her certain medical condition and the doctor told her that he would take a to a good psychiatrist who will be able to help her with her mental troubles. After that, she was taken to a hotel, she alleged.
"He told her he would take her to a good psychiatrist and took her to a hotel," revealed a police source. She also claimed that the psychiatrist who was supposed to come there to treat her did not show up and she was raped by the doctor instead, reports TOI.
After that, the woman approached ACP Mini Joseph of women cell and informed her about the whole incident. The police took immediate action against the accused and an FIR was lodged against the accused doctor.
The women police station (East) detained him on Tuesday and he was sent to the pre-arrest COVID testing. ACPJoseph confirmed to the daily that "We have registered an FIR for rape and have detained the doctor".
