Gurugram: In order to ensure proper development of Shitala Mata Devi Medical College, MCG has decided to allot 39 acres of land for construction. This addition of land will reportedly help increase in MBBS seats at the medical college.

Initially, the medical college will offer 150 MBBS seats, but now according to the reworked DPR, the project has now been planned in a way that it should be possible to increase MBBS seats from 150 to 250. The medical college will have 650 beds, according to the first detailed report, quotes TOI.

It has been reported that the civic body was supposed to give 39 acres originally for the project however due to some limitations the corporation could not allot the entire land at the time. Hence they could only manage 30.8 acres for the construction work. Now the civic body has decided to handover an additional 9 acres for the construction.
Moreover, GMDA has also revised plans and reworked the detailed project report.
Confirming the news, one of the MCG officials told Times of India "we have decided to give 39 acres of land in Kherki Majra Dhankot for building the medical college." The decision came in a meeting of officials headed by MCG commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh.
GMDA chief VS Kundu stated, "we have developed the DPR and will be taking and approval from the authority can send as soon as possible." The new DPR proposed two major changes while the first one concerns access road the other one is about the reduced footprint of the building. Kundu further told TOI that "we have improved the access road plan. Earlier, there was a congested access road to the project. We had to include more land. Some of it was owned by MCG and some of it was available with GMDA. Now, the access road is an 84-metre stretch. We can plan a traffic junction also. A lot of people come to a Medical College, so the road should not be congested."
As far as the reduced footprint of the building is concerned, there have been changes to ensure the maximum area for subsequent development. In order to make the project more efficient and the construction of the medical college more accurate, the development authority has consulted with a lot of experts before initiating changes in the detailed project report.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), in association with Municipal Corporation, Gurugram (MCG) and Shree Sheetla Mata Devi Shrine Board (SSMDSB), will establish the Medical College over 39 acres at Kherki Majra, Sector 102, Gurugram. The project will be initiated with an estimated cost of Rs 679.25 crore. The project is expected to be completed by April 2022.
PM Modi had laid the foundation stone of the institute last year.
