Gurugram to get its first medical college with 250 MBBS seats
Gurugram: MBBS aspirants willing to pursue medical education at Gurugram has got a reason to rejoice as the Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, recently gave approval for the first medical college of Gurugram with 250 MBBS seats.
The proposal for the medical college, named Sheetla Mata Medical College in village Kherki Majra, had been due for a long time. However, with the CM's recent nod, the proposed college is going to become a reality with 650 beds, and a trauma center with 100 beds.
This came during the seventh meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), wherein, the Chief Minister discussed the body's important projects and progress.
During the meeting, the revised detailed project report for the Sheetla Mata Medical College, the first state-run higher education institution for MBBS studies in the city was also approved by the Khattar.
Earlier, the medical college was proposed in Kherki Majra in Sector 102 at a cost of Rs 679 crore. However, the cost of the project has now been revised to Rs 981 crore.

"During the meeting, the construction of Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital in village Kherki Majra was discussed and it was informed by the officials that a 650-bed hospital along with a medical college and a 100-bed capacity trauma center will be built. This medical college will be equipped with advanced facilities which will have 250 seats for medical education. An amount of Rs 981 crore will be spent on this project," reads the statement as quoted by The New Indian Express.
Although the Government medical college had been proposed by the Government long back, the Chief Minister officially made an announcement only in 2017.
As per a recent media report by Times of India, the Minister stated that the new medical college will have all the latest facilities along with residential hostels and quarters for the students as well as the doctors working at the hospital.
GMDA also discussed and approved a project of lengthening the width of the road from Hero Honda Chowk to Captain Umang Bharadwaj Chowk in the city.
