Haryana: Despite allotting 171 posts of doctors, almost 78 posts are lying vacant at the Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat. Further, out of 267 posts of paramedics sanctioned for the institution, 185 posts are still lying vacant.

The information was provided by Health Minister Anil Vij during the Question Hour in the State Assembly. The minister responding to the questions of Congress legislator Jagbir Singh Malik on the issue of making appointments according to norms of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
MLA Malik questioned, " Will the Medical Education Minister be pleased to state whether the doctors and paramedical staff in BPS Mahila Medical College in Khanpur Kalan are posted as per norms of the NMC; if not, the time by which the above said vacancies are likely to be filled up as per the norms of NMC?" quotes a recent media report by The Tribune.
Responding to the same, the minister stated, "The government is on the job to fill the posts in BPS Women's Medical College as per norms of the National Medical Commission. Some posts have been lying vacant because of pending court cases. Once the cases are settled, the vacancies will be filled."
Commenting on the issue of medical institutions for paramedics in the state, the Health Minister added that in comparison to the first term of the Khattar government, there has been a significant increase in the MBBS seats as it had increased to 1,685. BDS seats have also increased to 850, and MDS seats to 258, reports the daily.
The minister also said that during the first term of the BJP government, almost 6 nursing colleges have been inaugurated. "I want that nursing college should be opened in every district of the state."
