Proper arrangements for testing and retesting, with round-the-clock surveillance, have been made to ensure that a COVID-free patient is shifted back to society to lead a normal life as soon as possible.

The preparation phase was on-going for the past few weeks and Medeor Hospital, Manesar is now ready to accept the first COVID patients for treatment.

The hospital will follow all standard protocols and guidelines laid down by the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) to be clinically assigned as Dedicated COVID Hospital (DCH) by using the entire hospital.

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Chairman of UAE based healthcare giant, VPS Healthcare Group's farsightedness and the first to stress upon the need for a unified effort of the healthcare fraternity and his crucial efforts in bringing together the private sector hospitals to fight against COVID-19 has now seen the light of the day.

Pre-requisites for a COVID-19 hospital set-up needs unique infrastructure such as ICU, ventilators, and beds with oxygen, along with a team of Intensivists and other specialists in order to prevent aerosol-based transmission.

The ICU area should be fitted with systems capable of creating Negative Pressure with HEPA Filtered Exhausts.

The breakaway sub-groups have been created at a micro-level to address various challenges such as hospital bed capacity, food management, testing, logistics, protective gears, hospital supplies and maintenance of equipment, etc.

Special training for Doctors, Nurses and support staff like Donning and Doffing, use and disposal of Personal Protective Equipment, inventory management, Infection Control Practice, COVID-19 treatment protocols and psychosocial resilience, etc. have been conducted by a team of expert professionals.

Also, the whole hospital is reorganised to provide unidirectional flow for staff, patients, supplies and biomedical wastes.

During an epidemic, coordinated and multidisciplinary management between Infectious Diseases (ID), ICU and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) specialists, real-time connect between hospital management and Referral Hospital team is of paramount importance to provide optimal care. Therefore, Creative Coalition has been formed with other leading hospitals for necessary support as per requirement.

The COVID-19 epidemic is a unique human tragedy leading to a global healthcare crisis because of its sheer scale.

Therefore, society and healthcare systems have to readjust the service delivery model, deploy new technologies and recalibrate the way of life.

Medeor Hospital extends sincere gratitude to the Creative Coalition partners, various corporates for their collaborative approach in creating awareness for screening and early detection of COVID-19 patients, which will not only help to fight coronavirus but will definitely defeat its outbreak, benefitting the entire community.
