Nine healthcare projects worth over Rs 100 crore launched in Haryana

Panchkula: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for nine healthcare projects worth over Rs 100 crore during a state-level programme held in Panchkula.

Addressing the gathering, Saini said the day marks 12 years of dedicated public service under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which a paradigm shift has been witnessed in India's healthcare sector.

He stated that in the past, poor families were often forced to travel to major cities for medical treatment. Illnesses not only caused physical suffering but also severely impacted the financial stability of families.

However, today, initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, Jan Aushadhi and the Digital Health Mission, besides the expansion of medical colleges and advanced diagnostic facilities, have brought healthcare services to the doorsteps of the poor, he said, news agency PTI reported.

Saini further stated that he has directed the health department to ensure every district hospital emerges as the best healthcare facility in its respective city.

Expressing satisfaction, he said that rapid and visible improvements are now being seen in district hospitals across Haryana.

In a step towards modernising and strengthening healthcare infrastructure, the chief minister inaugurated 30 health institutions constructed at a cost of Rs 22.29 crore and laid foundation stones for 16 such facilities worth around Rs 21.50 crore.

He also virtually laid the foundation stone for a rest house at the District Civil Hospital, Sonipat, built at Rs 6.45 crore.

He launched "Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar" women's clinics in 23 district hospitals at an annual operational cost of Rs 34 lakh.

To strengthen CT Scan and MRI services, the chief minister inaugurated new MRI facilities at district hospitals in Panipat and Kurukshetra at a cost of Rs 12 crore, and CT Scan services at the Sub-Divisional Hospital, Bahadurgarh, and District Hospital, Dadri, at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

Among other projects, free dialysis facilities were launched at Maharishi Chyavan Medical College, Koriawas (Narnaul), and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Chhainsa (Faridabad), at an annual cost of Rs 3.60 crore.

The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for 'Amrit' pharmacies in 23 district hospitals at a cost of Rs 1.73 crore, to provide branded medicines at affordable prices to the public.

Saini said the state government is continuously working to provide high-end diagnostic facilities in every district. At present, CT Scan services are available in 18 districts, while MRI facilities have already been started in seven districts. Ultrasound and blood analyser facilities are now available in every district, reports PTI.

He said the current fiscal budget includes provisions for CT Scan, MRI, and digital X-ray machines in the remaining districts as well. In addition, the tendering process for introducing MRI services in 13 more district hospitals has already been completed. In coming years, Haryana residents will be able to access world-class diagnostic facilities in their own districts.

The chief minister further said day-care cancer centres have been established in 22 district hospitals across the state. Cancer patients will now be able to receive treatment in their own districts, bringing major relief to poor and middle-class families, he asserted.

Emphasising the importance of timely diagnosis, he said early detection is crucial for saving lives, and therefore, the government is continuously expanding diagnostic services.

During the previous year, district hospitals conducted nearly two lakh dialysis sessions, 1.65 lakh CT scans, 70,000 MRI scans, 36,000 echocardiography tests, and thousands of coronary angiograms and stent implantations. These figures reflect that high-quality healthcare services are now becoming accessible to people in every district, Saini said.
